COMMUNITY

Kihei-Wailea Medical Center believes in giving back to the community as a way to thank them for over 20 years of support.

Adopt-A-Highway Clean-up
For the last 5 years you may have seen us along the side of the road at the Ma'alea mud flats and Kealia Pond.  Kihei-Wailea Medical Center’s amazing staff has gotten together 3 to 4 times a year and volunteered their time to help keep our aina clean. These early Saturday mornings started as a small dedicated group. As time passed more and more staff members began to join us in the effort. Our most recent Adopt-A-Highway clean up had over 20 staff attend, and over 40 bags of rubbish picked up. If you ever see us honk your horn and say "Hello".

Kihei-Wailea Medical Center Free Screening Clinic In 2009 Dr. Marcus Griffin spent a considerable amount of time experiencing medical services as a patient. He was so moved by the fantastic care he received during that time that he decided to do something in return.  Dr. Griffin spearheaded our first Free Health Screening Clinic that was held at Kihei-Wailea Medical enter, in the hope that it would be "a small way to give back to our community". Through his powerful story, he inspired donations from Clinical Laboratories and Maui Diagnostic Imaging.  Dr. Griffin also called on his colleague Dr. Gayland Yee to help him. Both saw over 40 patients that first day.

Kihei-Wailea Medical Center received such positive feed back from the community, that the event was repeated to help those without insurance.   At the Kihei-Wailea Medical Center's 2nd Free Screening Clinic, Ms. Sarah Yeskel PA-C, several nurses and administrative staff also joined the physicians and over 50 patients were helped that day.  Dr. Griffin believes "Even if we help only one person, this clinic will still be a success".  As our effort continues to grow Dr. Marcus Griffin and Office Manager Joel Krause will continue to look for ways to support the community by working with other physicians and programs to help provide needed medical care to the community.

On August 25th, 2012 Kihei-Wailea was back at it, hosting its 3rd annual free clinic. This time with more help than ever before Dr. Griffin and Dr. Yee were able to see more patients than before with the help of  Dr. Kenneth Kepler, Cristina Prokop NP, and Amanda Markell PA-C. With donations from MDI, Clinical Laboratories, Premier Physical Therapy, Bodies in Motion, Dr. Barbarosh, Aloha Eye Clinic and more, Kihei-Wailea was able to more than double the number of patients they had seen in past years. Our 3rd Free clinic was a total success with over a 100 patients seen at no charge.
